Because of our reputation as the historic renovation contractor, JAT was called to take over this project, which is a restoration of four townhomes and their slave quarters and is a work in progress. The townhomes were built in the early 1800’s, and historians believe they are remnants in Faubourg St. Mary of early 19th-century structures spurred by the development of the New Basin Canal in the 1830’s. JAT is performing a laundry list of renovations and is working with the out-of-state owner, the local designer, architects and engineers to move the project forward towards completion. We are repairing the masonry structural walls, performing waterproofing on several of the buildings, replacing 2 roofs and completing critical roof patches on others, adding new electrical and plumbing where needed, completing the HVAC systems, rebuilding balconies, restoring the remaining millwork needed, and refinishing the floors. We will be adding subsurface drainage and building four new elegant courtyards with fountains. Upon JAT’s completion of the project, these residential and commercial properties will be a Warehouse District crown jewel.
